Before tinkering with a named update, I backed up the binary and config
quickpkg net-dns/bind --include-config y
I've never needed to restore from such a backup until today.
emerge --usepkgonly net-dns/bind
It worked perfectly!
Now for some more reading up on why the upgrade failed :)
