Seems like an unavoidable marriage for filtering and sorting content from hubzilla instances, or nomadic identities.
I was optimistic about how nomadic identities would free us from some forms of narrative control that we're experiencing today. But now I'm concerned that the echo chambers will automatically become much less diverse.
I mean, why wouldn't you opt in and tune out all of those voices, all of those people, all of that SPAM?
I guess the good thing is that those content filters would be under the control of the individual or the host, rather than mega corporations.
Hubs would probably have to cater to the in group or risk being filtered out by association with the content they allow.
Society would still have the ability to suppress any speech that they collectively felt shouldn't exist.
I guess in that situation it would essentially be a democracy. An automatic and behind the scenes method for choosing which content to promote and which to suppress. Where each user has an equal vote.
