Has anyone tried Osada or Zap? I'm really interested in learning more about them and am using Hubzilla obviously ;), but have yet to hear much about either of these newer platforms from actual users. Happy New Years!

The very same here, I subscribed to your thread immediately then came back to comment. i'm in the middle of decision making --- Hubzilla or Osada or ...
As a freelancer I'd like to have a corporate-friendly solution (files, wiki for documentation, access level controls), so I will likely stick to Hubzilla. On the other hand I also consider a combination of NextCloud and e.g. Osada.
There's one way to find out: self-hosted servers. Which I'm up to during January. I just signed up for a decent vServer and will install several instances/ hubs/ pods/ clouds just to find out and learn.
It will be a lot of trial and error, but if you don't mind walking that bumpy and steep road with a documentation-afficionado I'd like to connect and will keep you informed.
