Heilsa, Drengers! It's Shadowstreik from CRAFTQuest! I am the producer of the Video series featured on the Craftbian 'About' page!
It's been months since development and support stopped and even longer since I deleted my Facebook account. But, I am back on Facebook, though only for family. But, I wanted to stop by here for a moment! This will be my only message, here. I was going back and forth on whether or not I was going to post, here, but felt it was necessary this one time.
Yes, development and support ended. CRAFTQuest, however, made a couple of changes, but kept going a little bit in its own way. I have not created any new videos since News Transmissions Edition 3.2. That was a message that the videos were, also, taking a hiatus and to give djda9l a big 'thank you' for his very kind comments.
I moved CRAFTQuest to social media. Namely, the microblogging platform, Mastodon. CRAFTQuest activity, there, has been active, pretty often. mastodon.social/@CRAFTQuest Hopefully, this posts with that link. Mastodon is an ethical and decentralized publisher that works a lot like Twitter. Although I don't actively use Twitter, I did create a mirror account for CRAFTQuest. twitter.com/Real_CRAFTQuest Anything I post on Mastodon should be cross-posted to Twitter. So far, my checks on Twitter show that cross-posting is working ok. I did have a period when it wasn't working, but it has been since another setup was put in.
I have turned my focus to tips and tricks, for the most part, along with little tidbits of info about CraftBian. I haven't touched about development nor support because there isn't any to speak of. It just isn't necessary at this point.
Another reason for posting, here, is to give some information about the CRAFTQuest presence on YouTube. The U.S. Federal Trade Commission (FTC) is considering enforcing COPPA beginning on January 1 against content creators on YouTube. Don't be surprised if any/many of your subscribed channels shut down as a result of COPPA enforcement. I'm here to let you know that I am no different and that I have taken a pro-active approach in keeping videos available, albeit not on YouTube.
Last year, I began channels for CRAFTQuest and put up copies of videos, on PeerTube, the official video home for CRAFTQuest as of last year. On YouTube, I have recently removed all of the videos that were on my CraftBian YouTube playlist that is linked on CraftBian's About page, Information tab. In their place is a single video pointing to where the videos are, today. That location is PeerTube, a YouTube-like video service that is ethical, decentralized and ad-free. I didn't make the videos to make money. The link is address is peertube.social/video-channels/craftquest/videos. My News Transmissions videos are at peertube.social/video-channels/craftquestnews/videos and Beyond The Craft is at peertube.social/video-channels/craftquestbeyond/videos There is also a link on YouTube to my dedicated channel for YouTube videos, HaukrVindr. But, since COPPA may be enforced, I shut it down. Well, it's more like I am only not posting any videos, there. There's a simple and quick video about that.
Some production news about CRAFTQuest... I have renamed the existing CRAFTQuest video series to CRAFTQuest: CraftBian Legacy. And, since development and support ceased, I ended my making of videos as well and broke down my producion equipment (which consisted of only a microphone). But, I have an idea to create a new replacement series. I have to work out the details, however, and would probably announce it on Mastodon (and, subsequently, the Twitter mirror). Because the U.S. is in the holiday season of the year, any new series won't be produced, this month, at minimum. The Mastodon page can be found at mastodon.social/@CRAFTQuest
And to finish up with some observations of Craftbian. I've recently done some rebuilds for my own Craftbian copies and have noticed the webserver has been down from time to time. I haven't been worried because the disruptions have been brief. So, I assume either the system it's on is simply being rebooted or may have been moved around or some other operation was taking place. Either way, it's all been just fine. Craftbian operation has been unaffected minus a little dashboard lag when it's checking its webserver connection. And, Minecraft version 1.15 has been released. I waited for Spigot to release its server, got that and tested a server in CraftBian. It runs well. Because it runs additional resources, the operating temperature is a little higher, but it is still well within the green range.
I may post again. In the meantime, craft on!
